Mk 6 2006 56 2.4 transit ECU

Postby Mattyremover » Wed Jun 16, 2021 11:49 pm

Specifically a message for Paul2012 or any one that could help please. Hi I’m new and not too sure how all this works. Any way this is a message for Paul, you seem to be an authority on all things Transit !! So here goes. I’m utterly losing my sh*t !! After a long running dispute with a local “mobile mechanic” I received my van keys back and a refund plus some parts he had charged to fit but obviously never had !! As annoying as it was I was pleased to be saving myself the £300+ van hire a week. So go to the van and it won’t start !! AA called 2 hours later it won’t start. Key unlocks ignition turns all lights come on glow light goes out key turns and nothing no click no turning over nish !!! So I have the van recovered to a local commercial garage, they have the van a week and it won’t start it won’t bump won’t tow nothing. So call out an ex Ford auto electrician ! He comes looks and says the little alarm light in the dash is not flashing. He did give it a technical name but it escapes me. So he plugs in and gets no faults He then goes to the ECU and notices it looks kind of disturbed and the top has been pried open, not unbolted but like lifted up. He removes the ECU takes out the 6 little bolts that hold the cover on and it looks like someone has smashed it to bits inside!!!! Several components are now off the board. So he says I need another ECU and I must find one with matching numbers. Great I look on EBay and all local breakers, but But BUT I can’t find out which numbers must match ?? I have found one very similar I have 8CAD in bold at the top so does this new one. under the long arse bar code to the left I have 3C11-12A650-GD everything else matches but the number to the right side under the same bar code is a few numbers different, does this matter ? The electrician is busy I have called him and he said numbers must match but he’s not really elaborating on which ones ?? Any idea please your transitness Sir Dr King ?????? Many thanks in advance

Right so 3c11 is the age of the original module,
12A650 is that it's a pcm module.
And for all intents the laast 2 letters are the variant but let's say the engine cc and power output.
So say cd is 2.4 90ps.

Now you can reprogram the pcm with ids so you could buy 3c11-12A650-** but it'll need reprogramming. But it will anyway because the fip will need to be paired anyway.

Also the part number is mk6 the fact it is 56 plate is rare so maybe confirm the model of the van just to save confusion.

Hi loot many thanks for that reply, I’ve really struggled with this and it’s cost me a fortune in van hire, I’d even considered another van. But the old tranny has such a lovely body, dry and good raves in there I was pained to let it go !! So the model number ? Obviously i know mine as it’s on the log book. How would I check the new ECU form EBay pictures ? Again massive thanks for the info so far matey.

If you etis check your vin it'll tell you the specific model and variant.

Ideally if you can get the correct part number that matches yours it means that it'll only need pairing with the pump and possibly pats to get it running.

But someone with diagnostics will be required to do that.

But I typed the number into ebay and there is 1 available.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/224497391371

So snatch that and hopefully someone with Ids can pair it.

Was it you that wanted to fit Mondeo alloys, and lower the van too?
