Will not turn over, please help I'm out of ideas

I have a 2012 2.2 rwd that will not crank.
The starter motor had been burnt out by an enthusiastic driver who would crank the life out of it rather than fix the air leak. I have replaced the starter as well as fitting 2 brand new batteries but no luck.
The immobiliser light goes out when the ignition is turned on. When you go to crank it the battery light goes out while the key is turned and comes back on when you release the key. the only fault codes it has is for No.3 and 4 glow plug circuit fault. will this stop it cranking?

Al your problems may stem from a faulty ign switch

It does nothing, lights don't dim, no clicks audible apart from the under seat relay after an attempt.

As what bambi has replied with. The ignition switch can cause a variety of issues.

Ignition switch ordered, even if it doesn't work it will be handy as a spare

The new ignition switch arrived today and I've just fitted it.
Everything is exactly the same, still not cranking.
Any further ideas?
