Mk6 2001 90ps coil light flashing and spluttering??

Hey guys, my 2001 90ps truck has its coil light constantly flashing. I know it acts like a management light on these but it only has a egr valve and thats it! No map sensor on this one so what can cause the light to be on? Comes on after 2 minutes of starting it up wether its hot or cold. Starts on the button but when the revs get up high in each gear it starts spluttering and holding back so i change gear. Doesnt do it down low revs just when its up around 3k revs. Put new fuel filter in it but no different.

Any ideas on the problem guys?

Get the codes read if you can. It will be fine running at low revs as the turbo isnt spooling up.
