Where can I buy a nut to tread onto my shiftgear stick?

Postby Kgnot » Tue Jun 22, 2021 1:01 pm

My van is Ford Transit T350 RWD with 6 speeds plus rear. I need to reposition it and the cheapest way will be if I find a spacer like a tiny nut to put it in the correct position. The ones in the building store seem to be with a different thread. Where can I buy one that has the correct thread?

It will probably be a metric fine thread

Measure diameter and the peaks between the threads to find the size - E.g. M12 x 1.5 then go on ebay/amazon etc

Yes I forgot to mention it is M12. I bough a nut from the builders store and it did not fit due to the thread being bigger on the nut.
I see what you mean.
Will that be ok then M12x1.5:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183791285195 ... Swdhdb8GmB ? There is also 1.25 what is this thread is it still metric?

is 1.5 the millimeters? 1.5 millimeter between threads?
Edit: The tape measuree shows 1 mm between threads. Can this be possible?

They are M12x1.0mm....so not a normal M12 thread. Get one from a wreckers or just use a small amount of medium loctite to reposition the gearknob. Did the same to mine.

Is it just that it's twisted and the numbers on top are not inline?

Just put a wad of paper or copper washer on the end of the rod and tighten knob down on top of it, keep adding or removing and tightening till you get the position you want.

If you put a nut under it, the "reverse lock" will likely not be able to lift far enough to let you engage reverse. Image

A wee bit of gasket sealer in the knob and screw it on to thr position you want, dont use loctite as you will have to break it off if you ever need to remove it
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT

It turned out to NOT be M10 with 1 mil distance, not 1.2 and not 1.5
