I used Comma oil for an oil change, it is fine when warmed up but getting first when its cold can be a bit difficult. When I change it next I will use Ford oil.

Sorry to cause you to pause for thought! The fact is the Comma oil is the right spec. but there must be a difference My guess is that the Comma oil is slightly more viscous when cold, but it is a guess. Its not really a problem, I just give it a shove and into first it goes. I would have used the Ford oil if I had known.

Truth is, there's many different oils from different manufacturers available which will work fine...Ford spec is..: WSD-M2C200-C which is essentially most garden variety 75w90 GL-4 gear oil.

I use Redline MT-90 75w90 in my MT-82 6 speed and find it very good, it's a bit spendy though.

Garden variety means it's something that's standard or nothing special, but will do the job :)

What Altransit said....just common gear oil nothing special. The Comma oil you've used will be fine. Your new clutch will be fine and has nothing to do with gear oil.

I’m assuming fords say that the gearbox oil is for the life of the vehicle? But is there a “good practice” mileage to change it at?
