High crank pressure on 2.2rwd 2013

Postby Nicholls » Sun Sep 05, 2021 11:37 pm

Thanks for the quick approvel.
My ford transit 2.2
I brought it with a siezed engine. So put a second hand one in it for time being till i decided were to get a tidy recon.scrap engine decided to die few mounths in. So got engine from cardiff engine center
Fitted engine seemed sweet as a nut.
Fitted new injectors seals copper washeers 3 peice clutch flywheel inter cooler plus pipes.
Week in dpf blocked so had that cut out and mapped out aswell as egr valve.
As the engine broke in i noticed engine crank pressure building. Thort nothing too it untill one morning i checked the oil and thort weres qauter of that oil gone. It become apparent its blowing out filler cap dont rocket cover down gearbox to floor. If i pull dipstick out or the recurle pipe that comes into air flow pipe they all breath but not thrwoing oil. Ive spent thousands on this van, engine place telling me dpf blocked and just giving me bullshit thinking im thick. After prevously telling them its not there anymore. And the pressure doesnt stick of gasses has anyone come across this befour. Im busy trying to fix my own customers plant and agri vichels turning uo with oil dripping dont look to good. Pluss its deere too

If she's "heavy breathing"...the copper injector sealing washers are probably leaking....were the seats in the head reamed and cleaned before the new washers were fitted..??

Thanks for relpy, yes they was engine was inmaculate apent 1300 quid on injectors had all the right stuff. Only think i can think of is some say theres ment to be a verible vain oil pump and some companys are putting the old school pump on and sometimes this causes it. Just totaly unshure

Oil pump has nothing to do with "heavy breathing". All 2.2 and 2.4 Euro-4 oil pumps are the same, the 2.2 Euro-5 oil pumps are a different part number and they were often the cause of problems in some of the later Mk7 engines but heavy breathing wasn't one of them. They are not a "variable vane" pump, I believe they are a "Gerotor" type pump.

Similar to this..:

Thanks Karl...I stand corrected on the Euro-5 pumps...I wonder why they went for the vane type pumps..??

no idea mate should of stuck to the same old design they have used since they made the durqa engine funny as they still used the same crank and bottom end pritty much all the internal parts right upto when they stopped making the engine

Variable vane is for emissions efficiency so it is pumping less oil at lower revs and only supplying the oil that is required rather than a constant displacement gear type pump.
So therefore needing less effort making the engine more efficient. Untill it's shat itself and engine becomes Uber efficient using no fuel at all.

I think some of the ranger guys, when those things were sh1ting themselves left right and centre, were fitting gear pumps from transits but not 100% sure
