BCM Click / Intermittent Electcial Gremlins

Postby trannyman99 » Sun Sep 19, 2021 1:53 pm

Hi all, '06 2.2L diesel van, FWD.

Been having a few intemrittent electrical gremlins, done a bit of a search for BCM issues here but havent found any exactly the same issues as mine. Van is good condition, well maintained, no rust, lots of new parts, 2 new batteries (leisure battery installed) runs, drives, stops great.

Intermittent issues;

- 1 in 10 times can be hard to start, I can definitely hear a clicking from the BCM sometimes.
- Sometimes random doors dont lock / open
- Sometimes when van starts up, pushing the throttle does nothing for 5 seconds or so, then is fine.
- Forscan shows a range of BCM codes;
U300A
B1C83
B1097
U0151
U0121
B10AD
B10D7

Ive checked the earth which seems in good nick, will run a new earth cable to the enigne just to be sure.

Anyone have any ideas? Bad BCM? What would cause the internal "click" - im guessing that is the root cause...

Thanks!

Easiest and cheapest to try is new ignition switch if you haven't tried one they're about £22 from RATES FORD dealer on ebay

No, not the ignition switch.

I reckon that the clicking of the BCM is the giveaway when turning the ley (sometimes), and after researching further it appears there are 2 relays in the centre of the BCM circuit board - so im pretty confident its one of those on board relays failing.

So im gonna replace it with an ebay one.

So I believe the procedure is;

1. using Forscan with full license backup the existing BCM, restore it to the replacement one OR copy the master BCM code from the master dash copy...?

2. do a PATS key re-program also using Forscan?

I wont need any other software will I?
