Mk6 engine swap

Postby Badpigtails » Wed Oct 20, 2021 2:52 pm

Hi
I have a Mk6 Luton van T350 on a 04 plate which I'm converting into a motorhome, it's also in the process of being up-plated to 4.5tons. I've blown something in the engine, but I also want to upgrade it from a 90 to a 125 so it can cope better with the extra load. I have found a donor engine and gear box which has come out of a 07 recovery truck, are there any problems I may have upgrading my engine?
Many thanks
Sam

Your 04 90 will be the old TDDi...the donor engine from the 07 will be Mk7 TDCi and they didn't come in 125. The Mk7 07 Euro-4 RWD's only came in 100, 115, 140 and the 5 pot 200.

They're not really a compatible swap. There are some people that have gone the other way though....pulled the Mk7 TDCi engine out and fitted a TDDi.

Thank you Knobby. Do you know if there is any way I can check just what engine it is? Is there somewhere I could maybe cross reference the engine number or something. I'm trying to upgrade my van to a 125 but can't afford the £1200 + pricetag for a recon engine.

Just repair what's wrong with it and sell it buy a jumbo and squeeze your stuff into it as lutons are absolutely gash on fuel.....really really gash on fuel

Not selling, the chassis is too good and I bought a luton specifically as I spent lockdown converting it into a home
