He said how much is an engine and I say 1000 plus servicing plus fitting, at that amount he was thinking, but he may buy another van.

I would rather him have done 60k on the motorway.

I fitted that timing kit so he's done a lot of stop start as the interior smells and the carpets worn through etc which was new when I fitted it all I think.

The only bug bear is the hours spent messing about with rusty bolts etc.

I bought 2 new bosch s4 when I had it and he's replaced both last year.

Just waiting for a new timing kit so I can fit that then get it all back together.

So if he buys another van will you buy this one back and dump ASBO ?

No i don't want it. I sold it because it was too big. I feel like dumping asbo and the conbo and getting something a bit newer. That said, I'm fed up spending money

If It has any sign of play in the roller bearings on the rockers then the cams will be worn out.
Only a problem if it's yours and you're keeping it.

Took the 4 glow plugs out, undone tightened undone wd40 tightened in out in out shake it all about etc, non runner so it was done cold. Rear 2 got tight.

The tip is right on the size of the hole it fits in but they can swell up so when you try to remove them they shear off, the trick is (to a point) keep working them in and out and keep them easy to turn, I had tight spots which meant brown trousers but in the end they came out. Tested all 4 and they're fooked.

Confirmed by 1 of my asbo old ones.

I don't know if the cam carrier is damaged I will remove the rocker cover and when the new timing kit is fitted I'll etc it all, I may try the head bolts to see if any are loose. I would like to think it would be obvious. The rocker assembly frame seems an obvious fail point, confirmed by the already broken rocker.

But so far we're looking at.

Glow plugs
Rocker assembly.
Timing kit.
Timing cover.
Service.
Labour.
Misc.

Told him 750

New timing chain kit fitted this evening, tomorrow should have new plugs fitted. I used the original timing cover without sealant, i want to run the engine to check it is good then i can spend money on a cover etc.

Just waiting on the Glow plugs, I'm hoping that there's no damage to the can carrier because i know that the inlet was out and that the pistons had stuck it,. With the timing correct it rotates fully without any Dowling but you do feel a slight resistance while going round, maybe cam return, i forget if it should feel this way.
