Quick question re tdci 2.4L 100 engine ?

Postby Havoc99 » Sun Jan 16, 2022 1:25 pm

Is this hole at the top supposed to be open or should it have some kind of cover on ?
Whats down the hole ?

Cheers guys, help appreciated as always.

The rocker covers are similar across the Mk7 2.4 range of engines, the 100 & 115 do not have the centrifugal oil filter in the cover...the earlier 140's do.

Here's the early 140 setup..:

The later 140's did away with the second filter and used a 10L sump instead.

Thanks all that have commented. Much appreciated.
I have not actually looked down the hole, but was concerned that something could potentially fall in there ?

No chance of dropping anything into the engine through it...but it makes a great cup holder for your tea when working on the engine. In the 100 & 115 it's just blanked off.
