What Lightbulbs

Postby EdRedbird » Thu Jan 20, 2022 4:39 pm

OK This is doing my head in
I am looking at upgrading my lights to LED where possible
Particularly lookigat auxbeam

BUT
What fits where and what are they exactly called (Confused here with spot/head vs dipped/main/big)

Headlights seem to be H4-472
But which one is what I call FarBeam/big

And then there if I go LED i might want to upgrade the rest

Anyone got a list of these things?

Don’t waste your money on led in your van, get some Philips or Osram H4 premium bulbs and make sure the headlights are correctly aligned.

If you need more info, do a search, it’s all been covered many times.

As said above, it's a single dual filament H4 bulb which provides both dipped and main beam. The other bulbs in the unit are for the sidelight and indicator.

Don't forget that headlights are designed to use a particular type of bulb. An LED bulb can't exactly reproduce the light pattern of a filament bulb. Vehicles with LED bulbs from the factory will have appropriate lenses too.

Currently it is illegal to fit LED (and HID) bulbs in a headlight which should have a filament bulb in it.

And yes, LED bulbs can break.

The Motorhome Fun forum will tell you the same.

If you have a problem with the quality of your headlights then fit new headlights and/or quality branded bulbs as mentioned above.
