Timing chain kit?

Postby WheelyBigBox » Thu Jan 20, 2022 5:53 pm

Hey guys

So with the fuel pump kerput and needing to come out for some tinkering, I figured while i'm in there i might as well replace the chain before my luck comes to see me again.

So far i'm having a wild time for quotes. One local parts suppliier quoted £290 for the timing chain kit, Motor Parts Direct over £1k, ECP have just quoted me £422.

I've seen others online varying wildly in price too - some are £120, others in the £190 region (and by online i meant on google not ebay lol).

Any recommendations please chaps?

With non branded ones or unheard of ones, you may replacing a chain with a Chinese or Indian rubbish which when installed may have less lifespan than leaving your original in place.
look for Renold, Skf , Iwis, DID, is a just a few i know of to be good.

all the best.mark

i sugest you to take SKF VKML as a brand, they make good timing chains. Probaby not as good as oem, but they are close.
