Noise when lights turned on

My Van has just started making a sort of electrical noise like a whine when i turn the lights on, side lights and main lights and stops when lights are turned off.
Checked the bulbs everything ok ..

Any ideas appreciated

Is it the same noise you hear when you open the door with the lights on? The warning noise?

If so could be the door open sensor/switch is stuck thinking the door is openm

I'm glad you asked that as since I've owned the van it's never made a noise to warn against leaving the lights on, i assumed being an old girl it never had it fitted but after a bit of searching it seems the mk6 should have that audible warning,
So to answer your question I'm not sure what the noise should sound like that but this could be that sort of noise all be it a poor one.

I seem to remember from my Mk6, that the noise comes from a module or a relay situated up under the dash near to your right knee.
It's a while ago since I had my van, but if you can reproduce the noise, just follow it

Just took a look and the door switch thing in rubber was stuck in anyway managed to pull it out and low and behold i do have the warning sound for lights left on...
So it looks like i just have to remove switch and wd40 it and put it back.
So the noise i was getting i think was it trying to come back to life.
