MK7 - Battery issues causing fob issues?

Postby mikelavo » Fri May 13, 2022 9:10 am

Hi everyone,

2012 MK7 Transit here.

Key fob c/locking not working. Got replacement fob and new battery still not working. Same circuit board and manual key as before though I haven't had it reprogrammed which I suppose is the issue.

Van is having battery issues. Warning light on (sometimes) and radio constantly needs code adding to work.

I've seen many good reviews about repairing the fob with exactly the kit I used.

Could my van battery issues be the problem? The receiver may not have any juice to receive the fobs signals?

Some variants of the Mk7 have a twin battery setup. If you have two batteries under the drivers seat, then it could be that the one at the front is dead

1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

Corrosion to the underbody fuse board main cables can also give similar symptoms, the heavy blue/red cable in particular

Is there 1 or 2 batteries under the seat ? If one then some one has been playing
