Thanks knobby, one last thing sorry, on the 90psi engine the head gasket had 3 notches on it my 125psi engine has got 2 notches on it, I brought a head gasket off ebay and its came with 3 notches, as I'm putting the head off the 125psi on to the 90psi block will the 3 notch gasket be ok?

BTW, it's "90PS or 125PS" not "PSI". PS is essentially a metric horsepower rating, very close to BHP.....1 PS is equal to 98.6% of 1 BHP.

PS stands for "Pferdestarke" in German.

There's a measurement you make to determine the head gasket thickness required, this below is for the Mk7 but I believe the procedure is the same for Mk6.

I'm changing rear crank seal does the new one need sealant? Also changing the spigot bearing as that has calloused, I got the old one out does the old one need any tricks putting it back in like putting in the freezer or smearing with grease and tapping in, or just the case of tapping it back in just as out of the box? Many thanks

no sealant and just tap the spigot in

A socket a tiny bit smaller than the OD of the spigot.

Can anyone tell the torque settings for the crank shaft timing chain sprocket bolt, not the bolts that hold the pulley, many thanks

With the timing chain tensioner when you pull the pin out does the tensioner come slightly out or does it need to come halfway out,is there any info on how to properly set the tensioner many thanks

Tensioner will "set itself" when oil pressure is applied.
