Got the engine and gearbox apart. Used ratchet strap on the crane. Rope around the sump and front x member with a tourniquet. Tighten, tighten, up down, right left wiggle. Hit the gearbox with a long bar and lump hammer. All repeated several times and it was apart. Yes 12 holes and I have 10 bolts. The now exposed comfae bolt laying on its own some at the top of the gearbox.
Now I can get into the big hole in the engine bay, with a small stool I could sit in comfort, look out and see where I might go realising the pleasurable knowledge that the comfae bolt is there just behind me.

A hairs breadth was betwixt the front x member the engine and the top of the engine bay, makes yer wonder how they does do it.
Like a thermos flask - how does it know to keep the hot things hot and the cold things cold?
2012 MK 7 E 5 100-350 3.5 XLWB RWD Duratorq 2.2L CR TC 14 DSL 100/125 PS E5 DPF BCM PCM RCM
Was DRRB 74 KW 100 HP 100 cv. Now CYR5 125 HP. PCM could still be for 100 HP.

Yes the hydraulic ramp - it is now a necessity -. Tis but a dream. But cheapo beggar that I have been and still am makes do with a shallow trench some off cuts of scaffold planks bits of board from pallets to have the elevated vehicle under which I look and do. In the trench draughty and wet though it is on overcast windy days I think of the future hoping for the sun to shine.
To sit on the stool in that now empty space and be forward looking - one day an hydraulic ramp shall fall just there in front and up goes the van for a look under.
So uplifting is life.
