Tools required to remove double passenger seat MK7

Postby NellieMcDee » Wed Jun 22, 2022 10:14 am

After getting a quote of 450 euros to remove and install my double swivel base under the passenger seat I have decided to buy the tools and do it my self as its obviously cheaper. From what I have seen online I will need a Ribe M11 socket to remove the torx bolts or a T50 torx bit. Has anybody here removed them on a MK7 and what did you find best to use?

My mk6 was the torque bit but I think they can have ether but try and get as much penetrating oil on as you can and let it soak in well .

I have just removed mine from my Mk7. While a torx 55 bit will work it's a bit loose. So I got a Ribe M11 socket which fits perfectly

When I took the double seat out of my van it was a right pain.
Because of the bulkhead, I could not get at a bolt at the back, I had to go to a garage and ask them to do it with an air ratchet in the end. It was so tight I could not get it out with the lack of room.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll soak it in oil and use a M11 ribe on it. I’ve already removed the bulkhead so I’ll have easy access

Yep agree with above. Just done mine. Hardest part was neatly cutting carpet! I also hammered down some of the metal over gearbox slightly to give more lateral movement. Don't leave even the slightest bit of carpet under the swivel base as the plate buckles easily and stops the locking pins working properly.
