Mk6 Injector seals

Postby 1888 » Tue Jun 28, 2022 11:44 pm

Trying to eliminate a black smoke issue. Engine is a bit jumpy when idling so was thinking a stuck/sticking injector. Got a knows good set from a mate and went to swap them but my engine has no crush washers at the bottom. No washers left down hole and phoned mate who told me none came out his old engine. Manual for my engine says i should have them as so does a mechanic mate who has worked on many a Duratorq so ordered a set. Next day i change injectors and no difference, if anything i would say slightly worse. I have the 90BHP model and injectors came out a 75. I am presuming they all use the same ones. Am i correct as thinking of just swapping my originals back in.

Cheers

75ps and 90ps injectors are the same, no crush washers on a mk6 tddi just metal ones that are usually 'welded' to the bottom of the injectors, the tddi injectors rarely go. i'd look elsewhere for the problem. intercooler to egr pipe with a split in it maybe- causes black smoke in bursts, lumpiness and lack of power

Cheers for that. I watched a video on how to refurb them as sussed it was there all along. I was expecting copper like all other i have ever changed. Took the 75's back out and the numbers were different so gave my old ones a good clean and the injector holes the replaced with the original ones. Smoke is now less again but saying that its now not got copper washers also  No power loss. It was mapped to 120 and TBH for the size of it the thing shifts like the proverbial off a shovel. Smoke is only on start up (Hot or Cold) and when giving it welly. I never had either smoke before i fitted a recon pump and new timing chain.

No Mk6 TDDi's have copper injector washers. They're all steel.

All Mk7's use copper washers.

Stick a vp44 pump from a 115/125 , different timing chain+ sprockets and turbo and injectors and engine loom in her, ask martyn to remap her and theres the guts of 150 ps 8)

Lol. You are not the first to say that to me. It was also mentioned about a mechanical pump but this was all after i bought the recon pump and chain. My bus is bad enough on fuel so ill stick with my 30 pump. I took out an old Telma brake also what was a hell of a weight saving. I think it was causing drag but since its been out i can feel a difference in driving. Got a few other fuel saving things to do also like fix the sticking front calliper and swap out my 14" front wheels for 16 but the old Coachsmith build was a tad sluggish with the 90BHP and i did go to Martyn for the remap.
