Bolt Pitch , any ideas ?

Postby richardw » Wed Sep 21, 2022 8:31 am

I'm looking to replace the engine mounting bolts on my Transit MK7 - part number 1386725 which are M10 x 68mm but unsure what pitch ?

I'll need to retap a hole as the first one sheered off

Well i noticed in the Ford parts lists that they would often quote the pitches if it was metric fine ..your part number has no pitch with it in the parts lists ..so assume its 1.5mm...I still could be wrong.

all the best.mark

Yes more likely to be Course thread.I was on a radial drill for a year at work and could count on one hand the amount of fine threads I drilled and tapped.

Can you measure the pitch of one of the others?

Good shout Jim - unfortunately I can't decide between 1.25 and 1.5mm - eye's aren't that good

Go to a bolt stockist the will probably have a nut that will fit and probably have a pitch gage to check your bolt or if you have a range of taps you can offer one up to check the pitch.
