Can sensor distance from cam lobe

Postby tranmx2 » Thu Sep 22, 2022 10:19 pm

After fitting the old cam sensor from the DRRB eng to the CYR5 recon eng Forscan shows a DTC P 1174 00 2E which is cam sensor. On the consul is the yellow toothed wheel with an exclamation mark = power train problem.
The toothed wheel went after reving up the engine to about 2500 rpm and showed again with a reduction in rpm.
With the cam sensor out and connected it was proved that it worked.
Using a metal object near the end of the cam sensor it was found that at a distance of 1.7272mm (0.068") the cam sensor did not work - at a distance of 1.5748 mm (0.062") it did work. Various thickness of cardboard were used to make a gap.
The cam sensor fits in it's location without the means to adjust it - except it may be possible to shim it away from the cam lobe.
It seems the cam sensor needs to be closer to the cam lobe.

If you have a rocker cradle with the cam sensor in place could you measure the gap between the sensor end and the cam lobe?
Thank you.

Does anyone know at what degree on the crank pully is the lobe of number 4 cylinder inlet cam in position relative to the sensor end?

Was DRRB 74 KW 100 HP 100 cv. Now CYR5 125 HP. PCM could still be for 100 HP.
There's more letters after a Transit than a military man
