Abs esp and clutch switch input circuit

Postby BigdaveIV » Sun Jan 29, 2023 5:35 pm

Hi guys and gals

I have this on going problem I hope you can help with, I have a 2010 2.2 semi high top mwb

I brought the van about 4 months ago with the abs and esp
Light on and after running forscan on it I found out that it was
The rear right speed sensor which I replaced and the light
Went out for about a week and then came back on so I put it
Back on the forscan. now this is where I get confused forscan
is not showing any abs or esp codes however it is bringing upa
code p0704 clutch switch circuit input, I have changed the clutch
switch but am still getting that code when I put the van on forscan.
Also when I clear the dtc's the abs and esp Light goes off but when
I drive 10yrds they come back on.

So my questions are......would the clutch switch circuit input
Cause the lights to come on and how do I fix this problem
Sorry if this has been answered before
And thanyou for reading

Is the bracket on the clutch pedal activating the switch properly ?

I’m not convinced this would cause you abs/esp issue tho….

A little update

I have just done a live test on the speed sensors and the rear right is not giving a reading so at least that is a starting point on the abs

You most probably have a broken wire, check the abs/speed sensor wires/plugs on the n/s rear chassis just above the axle, I had a broken wire at the plug which put the abs/esp light on and occasionally the speedo wouldn’t work.

Check the tone ring the abs sensor picks up from,I’ve seen them snap or just plain fall off the back of cheap brake discs..
If you had a broken wire or open / short circuit it should put light on every time you turn key on,without even driving it.
The fact you have no dtcs and light comes on once you move suggests the wirings ok.

Wiring is also prone to breaking up front on chassis leg,or in the bends that loop down along side of fuel tank…

I have sorted the abs problem turns out it was indeed the sensor was touching the ring so I guess I wore through nowadays I have changed the black and brown clutch switch now to change the other one

Thanks again for all the help
