transit p0404 p0149 p1564 2.0 duratorq..

Postby avduo » Tue Jul 04, 2023 5:57 pm

Hello all,

Trying to help a friend out and Transits/ford I've never really owned so looking for some advice, in relation to the codes p0404 p0149 p1564 on a 2.0 duratorq, 2004 I believe. Been reading about the possibility of it being a timing solenoid, but can't find anything on these for this engine.

The engine has been replaced and was coded via forscan, but these codes were showing after.

Also anyone for a diagram for the vacuum lines? As these don't look right as they look too long, and suspected to be the reason it's cuts-out on idle  ...

Any help on this would be awesome.

P1564 is the fuel pump requesting reduced fueling, P0404 is an issue with the EGR valve. P0149 does indeed point to the timing solenoid. Vacuum lines will have no relation to the P1564 and P0149 codes but may be the cause of your P0404 code.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply, think the p0404 was why I was asking about the the vacuum lines, do you have a link/part number for the timing solenoid? as when I put in the timing solenoid 2.0 duratorq nothing seems to come up  ?

Thanks for your help on this.

Timing solenoid for the VP-30 and VP-44 pumps on the 2.0 and 2.4 TDDi's are the same I believe.

Having issues with replacing this (removing the whole injection pump) as can't seem to get the timing lock to fall in the flywheel through the hole in the gearbox.

And the bolts don't seem to line up with the outside holes, but look to be more the single inside whole that would line up with the torx bolts.

So what am I missing Tia.

There are a couple of holes in the flywheel...but only one which is the proper timing hole.....the crankshaft timing hole is with the crankshaft at 50 degrees BTDC.

You don't need to do all this just to replace the timing solenoid though, it just needs to be changed out with a new one.

Thanks for the reply unfortunately I don't have a choice as the solenoid is on the back side of the pump between the pump and the engine and seems to be stuck in the hole... If you have any suggestions I'm all ears.

On the FWD's it's the solenoid at the right side, bottom/underneath the pump, shouldn't be against the engine and only has two screws holding it in.

Yes behind the plate, either way it's not coming out after the screws, still stuck in hole.
