Please help Mk6 fuel pump wiring

Postby Mk6tipperboy » Fri Jul 07, 2023 5:24 pm

Hello there I'm having trouble starting my mk6 transit 2.4
After running out of fuel I managed to get it started and running for only a day using some easy start but end of the day it wouldn't start again, so I checked all fuses and relays which were all ok, I then tried and tried again using easy start and even cracking open the injectors a bit still no luck in starting it,
I then plugged in a computer and it showed me code p1608-fuel injection pump signal watchdog
I suspect this wire is broken due to the code, could anyone please help and tell me what I should do please
Cheers

You need to check the wiring from the pump to the PCM, the wires can break inside the loom giving the symptoms you have.

Thank you for your help, I'm trying to see what wire it is but it is so difficult with so little room in there I can barely see anything so I removed the egr and I have a bit more space now but I still don't visually see anything wrong even after removing the threaded Teflon foil around the loom the wires look visually ok but obviously I can't see all the way down by the starter motor so I went from under and managed to unplug the fuel pump connection which slides,

what I want to know is is there a way to remove the loom without cutting any wires, so that I many find the bad one? And what color one am I looking for
Thank you very much

*FIXED* update for anyone in the same boat I went and looked more closely today after stripping the black conduit off of the wires and I found my suspect wire which was just hanging loosely in there with the rest of the good wires it looks like it had snapped somehow, so I looked at the other end and it's so odd because the other end that was coming out of the plug under the fuse box was actually spliced into a whole different black wire which I have included in the photos below and that black wire goes over the engine to the other side of the engine so what I did was I spliced my suspect wire onto that wire and voila it fired right up
For anyone that needs this info in the future It is the green and white wire that is the watchdog signal for the fuel pump
Thanks for your help Lord Knobrot

Here is the wire it's the green and white and as you can see the other end is actually spliced into a black wire and that's the one that goes over the engine towards the alternator side
