2.2 fwd 2011 injector pump learn fail

Postby Jm7812 » Mon Sep 04, 2023 9:10 pm

Hi

New here, any help would be appreciated.

Brought the van in a state, had to rebuild the top end and it’s bad 4x new injectors. I successfully completed the pilot learn before realising I should have done the pump learn first.

Attempted a pump learn today and it’s failing after the temporary learn:
Fuel rail pressure sensor
Short to VBATT
See the attached image for more

I have traced the wires back as far as possible without completely disassembling the loom, no issues have been found.

Any ideas?

Were the PRV values reset before starting the learns..?? Were the SCV and PRV replaced as well..?? Were the injector "correction factor codes" put into the PCM using Forscan..??

Battery/s needs to be in very good condition & fully charged before starting the learns procedure or it can cause issues, or connect a jump pack during the learns.

I haven’t replaced SCV and PRV, do you think I will need to?
Injector correction factors have been put into pcm
Battery isn’t the best on it but I thought as engine was running it wouldn’t be an issue as alternator is providing power?

Does short to VBATT not really mean what it says then?

Not necessarily a Ford thing but sometimes the diagnostic programs and ECU's only have "best/closest" description of reality, they don't all have an unlimited amount of memory to always list every known fault exactly.

Thanks for your replies, do you think a bad ground could cause this?

Anything is possible....Check the earths on the inner wing under the PCM, they're a common place for poor earths or corrosion.

Hey!

Did you ever sort this out? If so, what was the cause and fix?

Curious about this exact short to v-batt on pump learn problem as I'm knee deep in one myself :)
