Is your crankshaft sensor fully in and tight

Can't understand why it did start and run albeit 5secs then now it won't start.
Cracked open an injector pipe to check diesel there and no air.
Clutch pedal still abit floppy but probably needs bleeding more. Any ideas.
Thanks

Cracking injectors on a TDCi is pointless, the system "thinks" it has a high pressure leak and will disable the injectors and pump metering valve....you may get a dribble of fuel but nothing more ...and certainly not the 300bar required for starting.

What fault codes are you getting..?? Do you have cam/crank sync when cranking.??

What code reader are you using..?? Most can't cope with the Transit protocols etc..

If it cut-out and/or won't start...there should be a fault code stored. You don't have to have a fault light on the dash for it to have fault codes stored.

Hi.
Update.

Put a new crankshaft sensor in and can will not start.
With the old sensor it woukd crank and crank until I stopped trying.
With the new sensor it just crankshaft a few times and stops.
The only way the van has been started was to squirt brake cleaner down air intake that made the van start but very rough but it turned itself off after about 5 seconds.
There are puddles of diesel around each injector but I can't say if that was like it before the clutch change.
The van use to start first turn of key before clutch and fly wheel change. And it did start normal the very first time after clutch change but only for 5 seconds. After that refuses to start. (Apart from brake cleaner trick.)
All fuses in both fuse boxes been checked and the reset button at side of inside of glove box been done and also battery disconnected and reconnected.
Really out of ideas.

What code reader /diagnostic computer are you using to check for codes, does it have live data ?
When you say puddles of fuel around inhectors are they leaking or was jut you messing about with them, did you push new crank sensor all the way in?
Is cam and crank signals syncing ?

Hi quick question if someone knows the answer. How close does the tip of the crank sensor needs to be to the flywheel. Thanks

It gets pushed in till it touches, it will make it's own air gap.

You still haven't told us what code reader you're using or whether you have cam/crank sysnc..?? Do you not read the questions Andz and myself ask..??

Get Forscan and do it yourself, cheap readers are essentially useless....if taking to a garage it will cost the best part of 75quid just to plug in...let alone fix anything. Forscan is free and the cable is cheap....and you can do for free it at home...and you'll have it for the life of your van.

So as the teeth spin it will shave the bottom of sensor off to make the gap? Won't that damage the end of sensor?
