Hello fellas - new here, just picked up my first mk6;
Van was off the road for a year, it’s a 2003 mk6 bifuel 2.3 on 39k miles.
Gave it a service, fresh battery and took it for an MOT, straight through, bu it’s got a fault.
Chuck it in first, start the van with the clutch down and drive it, it’s spot on until you let the clutch up in neutral, then have a problem getting first. Leads me to believe either the flywheel is falling apart, spigot bearing is dragging on the shaft, or the clutch is sticking on the input shaft splines.
Having a look underneath the prop has been off at some point as someone has marked it up with a chalk marker.
Got a very light squeak from the release bearing foot off the clutch in neutral. I forgot the box has got to come out, and while it’s out I might as well change the clutch and flywheel. It’s a London van so it’s probably worn, which leads me to my second problem…
While I can get a flywheel for the van, I cannot for love nor money find the right clutch kit. It’s a post 05/2002 built van, with DMF. Luk can still supply the flywheel, but the clutch kits by valeo, sachs and LUK have all been discontinued and there is no stock anywhere. Does anyone know of a workaround?
Thanks in advance.
