Mot fail

Postby Parky7 » Tue Apr 22, 2025 9:07 pm

Failed the Mot today….

2010 - 2.4 - lwb 100/350

Been doing a lot of work on it and converting to a camper over the last 8 months, thought it was ready for the Mot
Failed on leaf spring cracked , right above the bolt, would never have seen that ….
And also on front passenger side lower suspension arm and an advisory on the driver’s side one + a leaking half shaft gasket…

Ordered 2 new leaf springs and wishbones + gasket, oil seal and nut for the half shafts…
Thought I would spray all the bolts and see if I could loosen them ready for next weekend,
Al came loose apart from one , passenger side rear wishbone bolt… hopefully if I keep soaking it in penetrating fluid it may come loose…
But knowing my luck it won’t :?

Is it best to cut the wishbone off to get to the bolt sleeve to apply some heat…
I only have a plumbers type blowtorch will this be able to get enough heat too it… I do have a powerful makita rattle gun to help out…
Where can I get a replacement bolt from…

Any advice welcome

Regards

Check out the thread 'Stuck rear bolt front suspension arm'

Maybe the same solution?

Cheers matey just seen it….

Yes think I will cut the wishbone off and then get some heat on the sleeve and see if the bolt comes out…
I could do without the nut breaking away from the weld… don’t need anymore agro
