Vaccum gasket thickness

Would anyone happen to know of Ford issuing a set thickness for the gasket between between vaccum and water pumps.

Ordered new gaskets today and the vaccum gasket seems to be twice as thick as what I took off. Also fitted a new water pump that came with two gaskets that are the same thickness as the originals (might not be ford original, but what I took off the engine)

Depends on the water pump itself....I don't even use a gasket on mine...I purposely bought a pump with two recesses for O-rings...they seal better than any gasket.

Then there are pumps without the recesses which require a gasket....they always tend to leak.

I will double check mine however I'm sure there are no recesses. Iv never noticed any leaking, the previously fitted was similar yet had a rather thin gasket

Some use a steel gasket, other have a steel gasket with rubber O-rings moulded into it, have also seen a fiberous type gasket used....there's lots of different manufacturers for them.

This is the most common one I see for pumps without the O-ring recesses, with the moulded in O-ring/seals:

Then theres the plain flat one which some use with the O-rings:

And another plain flat one, not sure if it's supposed to be used with O-rings or not.

As mentioned, I don't use a gasket of any kind on mine, just O-rings, and it hasn't leaked since fitting it several years ago.

thank you that's very useful.
I went with the thin basket in the end, I will keep an eye on it.

The thicker gasket has rubber seals however I'm having belt tension problems so the thicker one might cause me even more problems
