Tube on gearbox

Hi there,
On holiday in Scandinavië right now, I had to replace two H3 bulbs in my foglights due to heavy vibrations on these gravel roads.
So, laying on my back in the grass at the camping site with my torso squeezed under the frontbumber, I discovered a small black rubber tube , cut in to two peaces. (Probably a rodent last autumn). One end leading to some kind of pressure switch ,mounted on top of the gearbox( right under the two levers) and the other end to some place under the fusebox hanging loose . I do not know if this switch is pressure- or vacuum activated.
Can anyone give me a clue what it’s purpose is and where it has to be connected.
Engine runs flawlessly, by the way.

I already tried to get some answers at the Dutch transit forum,but this is mostly talk about camper issues .
My car: Ford Nugget (high roof campervan build by Westfalia) based on a Ford Transit euroline MK6, 125/300, 2.0 litre diesel

IF FWD - if what i think what you calling a pressure switch ... is just a box to hold the tube into a U shape and make the end face downwards ... i had your thoughts when i seen this device on my connect ... so looked closely at it .. and that is what it is .

you want to get it fixed as it will let water into the gearbox, should you go through - floods , fords, rivers , deep puddles

Hi, it is the air vent (ontluchter) of the 5 speed gearbox with a holder at the left of the fusebox. It is no switch and does not affect the engine performance. At my car it was also broken at the end. It is important that you connect the end downwards to prevent water inlet to the gearbox. In your case you can connect the two tubes to make it one tube again. Or shorten it with the end facing downwards. Goede vakantie verder!
