Mk7 rwd done injectors and now oil pump tensioner fooked

Ok i had the injectors out cleaned it all out Scv and PRV done as it kept dialing learns and engine management light was on. Can was running rough and once done it was good for a week and then I was getting oil on injectors and pressure unfortunately I then started getting a bad rattle and it sounded like pump which I've taken out. And seen lots of plastic and few bits of metal and then in had oil pressure light on flashing had to keep turning engine off and just got home


My question is can you do pump tensioner without taking chain cover off. I've cleaned a lot of gunk out

What pump have you taken out ?

Oil pump and it looks like new tensioner needed as that was all over the sump

Timing chain cover needs to come off as the sprocket that drives oil pump goes through the Timing cover seal, not sure if just removing front crank seal would give enough wiggle room to get pump chain off but replace crank seal if removing it as they leak like fook when messed with

Personally I'd be taking the cover off to check and replace timing chain , tensioner, guides and sprockets
Especially with the oil pump chain tensioner broken up

Can't say I've heard of an oil pump tensioner causing grief..

I've only ever done two faulty ones on transits , surprised there's not more problems with them , there isn't much too them and rarely get changed when timing chains are getting done
