Advice/guidance on ABS module swap

Postby Sweetjp » Sun Feb 15, 2026 12:05 pm

Hi there, anyone changed their ABS module? I need to change mine as stripped threads on one of the brake pipes have led to brake fluid everywhere and no pressure on brakes. If I get a matching one is it a straight swap job? Some people mention reprogramming the new module -anyone know what this involves? The only video I can find for mk7 style is this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX90VJDvJKs but the guy in it just does a straight swap, but ends the video by stating there's still an ABS fault which he claims is due to faulty sensor - comments on the video are turned off and there's no follow-up video, which makes me suspicious that his method worked.

Many thanks

Should be a straight swap, plug 'n play, however, you'll need to the ABS bleed via Forscan or IDS as the ABS module will be full of air.

Clear the codes and go from there....Make sure you have plenty of brake fluid handy....it uses a silly amount.
