FORSCAN INJECTOR PILOT LEARN ISSUE

Postby Bat135 » Tue Feb 17, 2026 5:54 pm

Hi

I have a transit mk7 2.4 tdci RWD transverse engine.

I had an error code on forscan showing injector pilot learn not completed. So I tried to complete it.

It went through pressure points 1,2,3 and 4 fine but on pressure point 5 the revs went high and the process stopped with the error code show in the picture below (you may need to zoom in). I also have the following DTC error codes (these may or may not have something to do with the injector pilot learn not completing). See second picture.

My issue is what’s causing this error and how do I resolve? So I can successfully complete the pilot learn. If it helps I have the cylinder balance screenshot too. The first cylinder is showing lower figures than the rest of the cylinders. So do I have a mechanical issue preventing the pilot learn first all the info above? Or how can I complete the ploutnkearn? Thanks in advance.

*** YOU WILL NEED TO CLICK ON EACH IMAGE AND ZOOM TO READ TEXT. ONE IS ERRIR CODES IN DTC. ONE IS SCREENSHOT OF FAILED INJECTOR PILOT LEARN AND AT WHAT POINT IT FAILED. AND ONE IS THE CYLINDER BALANCE FIGURES ***

Think you might have to do an EGR calibration/learn on forscan first, as you've installed a new EGR

There isn't an EGR calibration/learn. They do a "self clean" at every engine shutdown, which cycles the valve from full close to full open to full close again, (or vice-versa), so it then knows where it lives in space.

You can hear it doing it's thing when ignition is turned off...sounds like a small hack-saw.

You don't need to shout at us..

#1 injector is not real happy....has an imbalance of -1.704....ideally it should be less than +/-1.0. Adding all the correction numbers together should equal zero or very close to it. This may be causing the incorrect idle speed. As another check you can pop the crank sensor out and check for swarf, it may not be getting a perfect signal, which could also affect the idle speed indication.

As interesting as this is. None of it solves the issue. Driving me nuts this damn van. Just can’t seem to get it running right and this is the last issue. Last error code.

Is there anyway of being able to complete this damn injector pilot learn. Tried it loads of different times and after different runs to get engine hot. Always fails at pressure point 5. Is there something wrong with the injectors? Is there anything I can try to rule stuff out with this learn failure. I only have the free version of forscan so it doesn’t allow me to see the injector learn numbers fkr each injector. Otherwise I could do it manually by driving in 3rd gear upto 3000 revs then let off till it goes back to 1500 rpm untill each injector has a value of 7. But it doesn’t have the PIDs for the individual injector learns in my free version. Don’t know if this changes with paid for version. So I can see when each number reaches 7.

Sorry. Posted this message after last reply. Will try the crank sensor thing. If anybody has any other suggestions then great.

Otherwise I guess I gotta get each injector out and get them tested.

Where do you get the value of "7" from..?? And where does the "3rd gear up to 3000rpm and back to 1500rpm" come from..?? We've not heard of this before on a Euro-4.

Free version of Forscan should list the 16 digit injector correction factor numbers as shown on each injector and live data will show any inconsistencies in fuel corrections etc.

I read up it’s possible to manually set the injectors up by putting it in 3rd gear and driving at 3000rpm. Then letting it settle back to 1500rpm.

For some reason my forscan has noting on injector coding PIDs Not certain why. So may have to get paid version.

I will look ontop of the injectors and make sure the codes stamped on them match the codes in forscan.is it possible to read the codes stamped on the KHE toes whilst fitted? Don’t want to remove injectors just to read the codes. But I don’t think this is the issue. I need to complete an injector correction factors pilot learn that’s obviously been half done in the past… hence the complete pilot learn DTC code. Which keeps stopping at pressure point 5. Always. Says idle speed too high as per pics.
