Dash conversion MK6 to MK7, gearbox question

Hello everyone!

I am working on my camper van, Tranny MK6, and doing the dash conversion. Everything is running smooth, except for maybe 1 thing..
I have an RWD 5 speed gearbox. And my donor MK7 is also an RWD, an 2.2 TDCi RWD to be exactly. But this is a 6 speed gearbox.

When i get the gearbox linkage from the donor, with the 2 brackets and the cables. Will this going to fit on my MK6??

Mk6 and the Mk7 2006 to 2011 - might - be the same as the Mk6. That is speedo drive is from the gearbox.
Mk7 2011 to 2014 have the speedo fed from the ABS vis other modules. Linked could be ABS, ESP, BCM, PCM, IPC. Other modules could be linked to some of the mentioned modules.

Along with the difference in speedo drive, which uses the ABS system through the BCM on the Mk7, the Mk6 uses a sensor on the gearbox and doesn't have a BCM....the propshafts will be a different length and have different couplings at each end....the 6 speed box is slightly longer than the 5 speed hence the need for a shorter propshaft. Mk7 uses a cable gearshift setup whereas the Mk6 5 speed uses a lever through the floor. You'll need to make room to mount the shift cables through the floor behind the dash.

The clutches are totally different and the slave cyl used on the 5 speed is external to the box....the 6 speed uses a concentric slave cyl and is mounted internally. The Mk6 2.4 135ps TDCi came with a 6 speed box...it may be easier to find one of them.

So what will be the options to get the shifter in the dashboard??
I have now looked under the cars, and it looks like it is not so easy to do.
I have already the dash in the car, so my final goal is to finish it!

Can i change something at my existing gearbox to get it done properly?
Or do i maybe need to fit a different gearbox? And if so, which gearbox would fit then?
I can not find any information on the internet about it...

You can't use the existing Mk6 5 speed gearbox with a Mk7 cable dash mounted setup as there is no cable attachment on the gearbox for them.... but the Mk7 donor 6 speed should be doable...holes will need to be made for the cable system to be mounted and go through the floor/firewall behind the dash...getting the speedo to work with the Mk7 gearbox will be the issue as you don't have a speedo drive in the Mk7 gearbox and also no BCM in the Mk6. Some of the electronics in the Mk7 dash are also "can-bus" and not compatible with the Mk6 wiring setup. Again, the propshaft will be different and the coupling on the existing Mk6 gearbox & diff won't fit the Mk7 propshaft if you go that route. It can be done but not as simple as it sounds.

This should be from an MK6, and it has not the shifting element on top of the gearbox.

Could this one maybe be used for my van?

I stopped with searching for gearboxes for my car.

I ended up keeping my old gearselector, and reshaped the plastic from the new dashboard to be flat.
Actually not ugly at all
