Walnut blasting

Bags are on ebay

So are cheap sandblast guns .. You don't need the full blown hoover outfit

Tape off the open ports that you are not blasting .. bring the one you are blasting up to tdc, so all valves are closed.. then away you go.

mask on , mess everywhere .. but the only other way is hand scraping with improvised tools or paying for a proper blaster

if you don;t have air at quantity 15 cfm. 150 litre tank or larger .. then you are screwed

Horrible messy job....with the inlet manifold, once removed you can hit it with oven cleaner and a good old fashioned garden hose, you may have to do this more than once. You may need to scrape out some of the heavily crudded areas. Make sure you wear gloves as the shite gets everywhere and gets into your skin.

Inside the ports on the head...just scrape out as much as you can get to with a suitable tool, (I use a modified long handle tea spoon)...again a messy job, but your engine will thank you. A good idea to replace the gaskets if they have not been done in the last 10 years. Just remember, at least one or two inlet valves will be open or partially open, so take care not to force too much down into the ports towards the valves.

Once it's all done, it might be a good idea to fit a catch can on the breather system..

I know yours is EU4 but my EU5 one was only £120 from Fords. New inlet gaskets included. Much easier than trying to manually clean it.

Yep...a good option if you can find them easily and cheap enough.

The crap is already getting in the engine, I used brake clean and tough wipes when I did mine on my mk6, very messy but well worth it, an oil catch can can cut down some of the crud in future
