P2033 / EGT Sensor 2

Postby nishijin » Thu Mar 26, 2026 1:23 pm

P2033 / check engine light.

It’s been asked before, I know! I searched old threads and TL/DR either sensor or more likely connector.

So, for £30-40 for a sensor I’m trying that first. Problem is, I am quite sure the outer wire colour is green on mine, and online there are both blue and green. Blue seems to be the Sensor 1.

Is there any meaningful difference between Sensor 1 & 2? Are they actually the same part with a different colour outer?

P2539-00 - also getting this but not noticing any change in vehicle behaviour yet.

Think its all to do with checking DPF regeneration is happening.
if you plugged forscan in .. and unplugged a sensor .. that would read minus 40 when unplugged .. so then tells you which one it is .
Wire colour , well ebay sellers don't know one from the other , quite dodgy buying brands you've never heard of .. stick with ford, ngk, ntk , bosch, siemens , denso , delphi.

Having fords seven digit part number helps you find the right one , cant steer you to that as you never mentioned . details of the van .. year etc
so as close as i can get you

All fair points.

This was the one in question. Part code appeared correct, to catcar, but colour isn’t.

Well it has formoco (ford motor company) written on it .. that tells you it's genuine ford.

That's it .. far as i can help .

Yep thanks. Just strange that sensor 1 (A / blue) and sensor 2 (B / green) have flipped colours on these FoMoCo’s. They are NTK oe parts as far as I can tell. Thanks for your help.

Main reason for my question is that, if they are the same sensor, maybe my van had the blue and the green the wrong way around. Definitely green underneath.

The T sensor on the front of the DPF can show the T at that point after the vapourisor has been activated (it'll also show the EGT prior to activating the vapouriser) - some have it at 1000 C.
The rearmost sensor shows the T after the DPF.
There was a vid or post about the DPF and sensors.
ORiley DPF on youtube has lots of vids.

And to be different it is different.
