MK6 2.4 TDDI Fuel pump communication / power

Have a mk6 the fuel pump died. Replaced with a new one etc etc doesn't start or run

Now has a communication error with the pump. P1665 irc

All the wiring checks out with no breaks, from pump to fuse box and to ecu

The PCM relay comes on and stays on, the power to the fuel pump relay is good

now the strange part;

The fuel pump relay is switched on and then shortly after turns back off. I’ve checked the negative connection back to the ecu and that is fine.

Why would it turn on and then back off, no wonder it can't communicate with the pump it's not on....

Questions

Should the power to the pump (pin 7) be live when the ignition is on and stay on, in my mind yes

Why does it turn back off, is it an initialisation problem ? pump turns on, handshake fails, so turns pump off ?

Is it a "new to you" second hand pump...or a "brand new" pump..?? Do you know if the pump was "virginised".??

Has the pump been "coded" into the system using IDS or Forscan..??

recon pump, virgin.

no, just the switch on wait for it to do its thing and then off before starting (attempting to start in this case) like i have with other cars equipped with vp30 turds.

Strange...Mk6 doesn't have a "Can-Bus" system. Only the Mk7 does.

Can-Bus wasn't introduced on the Transits until April of 2006 on the Mk7...

Below is the Can-Bus system of the Mk7....none of which is in the Mk6.

Drawing and wiring is fine but it is "NOT" a proper Can-Bus....

And the Mk6 & 7 Transits don't have an ECU as such...they're called a PCM, (Powertrain Control Module).
