Mk6 2.0 tdci rough idling no codes

Hi all, yesterday I was given a mk6 ford 2.0 tdci transit toureno, been stood a few years, non starter, managed to get it going but its idling bad engine shaking real bad, did have a code (p0100) which i cured that was air filter soaking wet and a chunk of it wrapped around the air mass sensor, but the idling i cant suss out, I cracked off the injectors 1 by 1, 1 2 and 3 cuts straight out, injector 4 when cracked off seems to make the van run a bit better but doesn't make the van cut straight out like the rest, any suggestions on this? Pop the fuel filter off and cut it open, check for metalic sparkly bits...the Mk6 TDCi Delphi fuel systems are well known for being quite fragile and the pumps tend to eat themselves from the inside.

Maybe just a poorly injector or two, bad fuel..??...Or the wiring to them is not well....wiring not been eaten by rodents has it..?? Common on vans that sit around for a while.

Are the particles magnetic..??

Hi mate, I ran a magnetic through it and nothing stuck to the magnetic, some bits looks shiny I rubbed a bit on my finger but it feels like fine grit but there aint much in the tub from the filter, hope this help many tganks thanks

I would disassemble all the injectors and see what you find inside. Clean them (flush them out) and then put them back. Start the engine briefly for 5-10 seconds without the 4 electric injector solenoid valve controls connected to prevent them from running dry after cleaning. Then connect the electric controls and see how it starts and runs. There are plenty of videos on YouTube about disassembling these 2.0tdci injectors. As mentioned, if you find a lot of metal particles, the pump is dead. Keep a close eye on the order of the individual injector parts before reassembly. There could also be water in your diesel after years of stagnation; it won't run well on that either.

Cheers mate I will remove one today and strip it down and see what I find, just hope it aint the pump, and just dodgy injectors, many thanks

Be careful taking the injectors apart theres little spring inside that usually fooks off somewhere, ask me how I know I might have some injectors in the shed somewhere, 4 remans from pf jones with about 5k on them and some good second hand ones that’s came out of a running van, I’ll have a look for them this weekend and work out a price if your interested.

When I had my mk666 tdci I chased a fuel issue for 7 year and never got to the bottom of it

I did buy a second hand fuel pump off a mondeo but never fitted it, I’ll have to see if I still have it or it got scrapped with the van, hopefully it’s in the shed or my mums garage, I’ll look for the injectors this weekend
