Crank position sensor plug

Postby STEVE P » Wed May 27, 2026 10:14 pm

Today I started of as normal, my first call was only a mile down the road. I went to start when I had finnished there and though it turned over it didnt fire, I tried several times and even locked an unlocked the van incase it was imobiliser fault.
Luckily my mate who has his own garage was only a 5 min walk away so I popped into to see him and borrowed his scan tool.
It came up as a cam sensor fault, this has been replaced a few times as I keep getting this code but it doesnt usually stop it starting.
I wiggled the plug and turned the key and it started instantly and has done all day.
i can only presusme the plug for the cam sensor is not making the best of connetions.
Spoke to my local Ford dealer who is very helpful and had a look and reckons the plug or a repair kit for the plug is not available and it would need a new loom at £500 and some change.
Has anyone ever come across this before or found a way of repairing this plug.
I suppose I could go to the scrapyard but the chances are its not going to be in much better condition than mine.
Mine is a 200 ps but the part number for the sensor is the same for a 2.4 so I presume the plug is the same.

Is it the cam or crank sensor..?? Your thread heading says crank, but you go on to say the cam sensor plug is at fault.??
