Are you reffering to the 125ps TDCi fwd or the 125ps tddi rwd?

The TDCi is a very lively vehicle and with the TCS turned off, no other transit of equal weight will stay with it.

The 2.4 125ps RWD isn't that quick, buy by fook can it drink diesel. the 137ps TDCi is better for traffic light GPs 8)

The ring van was a 137Ps 6 speed 2.4 RWD.....phew and thats currently the only rear wheel drive TDCi

The 125Ps front wheel drive is a TDCi and is a lighter vehicle than it's rwd brother, the 125Ps RWD is more of a torquey load lugger and runs a bosh Vp30 pump first seen on the 120Ps and now the 115ps

Slightly different from the other Bosch pumps used on 75/90 transits of rwd form as it used the lucas pumping principle........thats why the 120/125/115's are more reliable

TCS is a traction control system, it's not that clever though

From memory on the early vehicles, it' can't be turned off.

If your vehicle has a switch near the heater controls with a picture of a wheel which appears to be spinning, thats the button to turn it off.

It's off when the switch is illuminated.

The system used the ABS to control the spinning wheel below 25mph and the fueling was trimed down during the event. It will not help you above 25mph, so no powersliding it into corners

Mines got that button. Normally gets pressed as soon as I start it up

Mine is currently the 100bhp TDCi FWD, but as luck would have it, i happen to know someone who works in the development of the Trannie ECU's.

With a little bit of luck, and if mine has the correct turbo (apparently there are two types, one is adjustable, the other is not, and its lucky dip) then he recons a bit of a fettle with the turbo and the ECU being reprogrammed, i could see almost 140bhp!

Not sure what this will do to my warranty, but if i do go for it I will then be leaving the TCS on

If you have a TDCi then it must be a 125Ps as we don't have any other power output on the FWD. The 100Ps engine runs with a Bosch Vp fuel pump and is of the normal TDDi type.

Your turbo's wastegate would need to be adjusted to allow a greater boost pressure, and your custom PCM map would also need to be able to allow such boost levels so the fueling could match the increased air volume and higher temps.
Standard mapping of the PCM doesn't allow for overboost and will result in reduced fueling and subsequent power loss.

Re. the warranty on the engine.

If your contact is from within FMC, he'll be able to assure you that as soon as you change anything on the engine from standard spec your warranty on the engine is VOID and also anything that fails as a direct result of the changes will also be excluded from the warranty......so if the increased engine power caused the clutch to fail you had better hope your wallet has enough in it.

Yes, he did make that perfectly clear LOL, and i wont be entering into anything of the sort without giving it a lot of thought!

Interesting to hear about the TDCi TDDi thing. The dealer told me it was a TDCi unit, but im not going to take what he said as red, as dealers dont tend to be the most technical guys on the planet.

You learn something new every day
