Where's the battery gone!!

Postby spondootre » Tue Nov 22, 2005 7:10 pm

Hi all,

OK so it's my first post and I will probably look like a bit of a fool by asking this question but........

Where is the battery on my Transit Jumbo?? It certainly aint under the bonnet!! There are just terminals for jump starting if needbe but how do I get to the actual battery??

Sorry if this is a no brainer!!

Cheers

Merc had had the battery there for years on their small vans, so it seemed like a good place to stick it.

The idea is that the battery is protected from the extremes of temperature change. The interior temps are warmer and cooler at the extremes of operating conditions giving better battery performance and charging.........they say

BUT IF YOU HAVE HAD A WICKED CURRY BEFORE DRIVING , THIS MAY HAVE A SERIOUS REACTION HAVING A BATTERY UNDER YER SEAT

STILL A WORRYING THOUGHT  BUT I GUESS IF ITS NOT SAFE THEY WOULDNT PUT IT THERE , BUT WHY NOT KEEP THE BATTERY UNDER THE BONNET WHERE IT SHOULD BE , WHAT IF YOU NEED A JUMP START WITH THE OL LEADS , GOT TO BE EASIER LIFTING THE BONNET TO GET TO THE BATTERY :?

Have you ever tried to lift the bonnet of a Current transit which has seen less than perfect upkeep?

You can't get the key all the way into the bonnet lock because the grille panel has jumped out of it's catches at the top, so once you've refitted the grille and started to lift the bonnet, you find that the hinges have siezed and as you lift the bonnet it digs in to the cowle panel and causes damage to the panel and the bonnet.

The fuse in the earth lead is there in case of a dead short and will prevent the battery exploding.
