i would definately say there is something wrong with it  , dont know what tho. my 100 ps hi cube does 100mph

could have a limiter fitted :? but they are usually set to 70mph but if your speedo is out thats what it could be :?

yeah sounds slow to me too, your gonna have to test a few things, sometimes limiters only kick in in top gear, so see how far you can push it in 4th, just dont over rev it, also does it pull all the way upto 85 and then stop dead at 85, and if so do you notice anything similar in other gears, might be worth having the ecu on the ford test thing and see if they can tell you if its been mapped to limit it.

could also be down to a number of other things in the fuel delivery system like injectors .... are you sure it has the correct ones fitted, and they are not clogging up ?

Have you changed the fuel filter ? does it hold back when in lower gear and pulling hard on a hill, if so could be the filter. Had one in not long ago with the same problem as you and that sorted it, check air filter as well while your at it,
Had one along time ago that had sucked a rag up the intake and could not get all the air it needed, it made its way to the filter and blocked half the inlet hole off at the filter.

Slow TDCI

Postby Clayton » Thu Dec 29, 2005 9:24 pm

I would definately say that its not right pete.

I have a 125 TDCI and it flys mate.

It must be restricted as ive had 115mph out of mine! ( In Germany - not )

The other thing with mine is it just keeps climbing and will do a ton up a gradual hill.

Ive even had 85mph up this steep hill on the way home, and this hill is the mother of all steep hills!

Throw it back at the Ford dealer or tell them you want to drive a demonstrator as comparrison, then you will definitely know for sure.

Cheers
