Do I need a 6 speed 'box?

I have an 04 plate, 125 rwd xlwb and always carry full load (always 3.5t gvw, sometimes nearly 4t!). I am looking to reduce revs at cruising speeds of approx 70-75mph and wonder if the 6 speed gearbox is the best way to go about it?
I find the engine is too noisy and I don't think it should be doing over 3500 revs at this speed!
I could increase the bhp to something like 135 or even 140 if I talk nicely to MartynX(!) but would I achieve what I want? Or should I be looking to change the dif ratios? I do not want the low speeds to suffer whilst I carry heavy loads.
Any help would be appreciated!

i would say avoid having 4ton in the back as those nice vosa people do not like it !!

I have absolutely no idea what it is - except I'm confident it will be the standard factory fitted one for this model if that's any help?

Those very nice VOSA people have already pulled me in and I weighed in (on that particular day!!!) at 3570kg.
With just a mere 70 kg over with no passengers, I was very shocked indeed at being overweight!
It was suggested that I ditch some of my load when I was home and abide by the law in future. A written weight ticket was all I received and an hour later I was on my way again - after having a "full routine inspection sir!" I even had to describe the style and colour of my underwear.
Very nice VOSA people shouldn't have a bad word said against them...

It would appear those very nice people at VOSA neglected to mention there is a 10% 'allowance' for overweight, so 10% of your 3750 equates to 375, so you were well within the 10% at 70 kgs, hence no ticket.
Doing this sort of thing all day , you wouldn't expect them to forget a silly little thing like correctly informing you of the law, WOULD YOU ????????????????????????

Yes and it is the case with the FWD box as well but that has a transaxle doesn't it.

No idea, I just know that a very vocal person on here claimed that the 6spd fwd would be doing the same revs at 70mph as the 5spd would.
