first transit

Hello everyone, I am 17, 18 in 2 weeks, and wanted a first car that was a bit different to a little punto/polo/fiesta/every other tin can everyone is driving, i wanted a ford focus saloon, but insurance was not being nice, so i thought why not a transit and got a qoute of £1400 under my own name on a 2000 SWB 125PS model which is decent, but i wanted to ask you lot, are there any hidden costs on using a van as a daily driver, like road tax and diesel consumption etc. And how much could i get a 2000 SWB transit for?

Road tax is the same as a car. My 2001 swb 2.0td was filled up on Saturday and I've done 330 miles and its on about a 1/3 to a half still. Much better than my old car! Course my fuel gauge could be wrong
It's an 80litre tank so it's not filled very often!

hi mate - running a van is a little more expensive than a car but you get so much more!! and transits are cool trust me
you can get swb mk6's for £3500ish+ but you will need to pay a fair bit more for a 125ps

Don't forget Tam, you're 17. So much room in the back of a van for say a bed etc

im 18 ,19 in march and i have got a hi cube and its £380ish a year tpft to insure on my own and thats no ncb also parts are seem to be easier to get hold of and in some cases can be a lot cheaper than some cars good luck finding a van

got my insurance thru aquote but everyone else i know tells me they are expensive even my dad changed to them they were £200 cheaper than anywhere else he could find
