engine starts then dies

hi everyone had this problem for awhile now,i do a lot of stop start work during the day,about 30-40 times on off with the engine.a lot of the time the engine will start and then die straight away try again and its fine.had this niggling problem before and after a fuel filter change so don't believe its that.any ideas? forgot to say it's a 90ps 2.4 diesel 53 plate.

Does the Glow plug light come on?

it has come on before and caused the engine to revert to idle but that was a problem with the accelerator pedal.in a word no.

had a look at that post.my van isn't quite the same as it doesn't struggle to start after cutting out,starts straight away.its something i can live with just worried it's going to hurt in the pocket in the long run (fuel pump?).

I think it's the same as that post as your van sounds like the same fault as my mates which is what me and Nighthawk were talking about when he gave me the info.
