Postby belly » Sat Nov 08, 2008 7:56 pm

i finally got round to fitting my hid kit today after having sit in the garage for a couple of weeks :? well wow very impressed 8) i got a hids for you proplus h4 6000k kit nice bit of kit all plug and play and very simple :) now it should only take about an hour to do! but i like everything looking factory neat and tidy and hidden so i took the bumper off and headlights out to fit the ballasts securely and run the wiring underneath and neat 8) i was suprised how easy it all was so ive taken lots of pics if anyone is intrested i will try and get them on here :)

I was thinking about it but was not sure if the kit fitted neat and tidy. Would love to see your pics.

Has it made much difference to the distance of the dipped beam as I find mine a bit short?

hope fully some pics :)

Image
the kit
Image
h4 hid bulb
Image
to do it properly i had to take the headlights out which ment stripping the front off :?
Image
with the lights out! it niggled me being dirty
Image
so gave it a bufty also 8)
Image
back of standard headlight
Image
you have to drill a hole in the cap to allow the wiring through :? this is the only parts that needed drilling so i didnt mind as they can be replaced if needs be, the hole needed to be large enough to allow the connector which connects to the factory connector! the one which normally goes onto the bulb, the kit one is basically the same but a male end,and yes i know im a bit peed off with the hole on that one as its not exactly central :( typically the other one is but no piccie
Image
then the bulb slots in place and the wiring connections all fit in the headlight
Image
then this is the back of the headlight with the connections inside and cap on ,the leads that come out are for the ballast pack and a power switch this switch is stuck onto the back off the headlight and the lead out of that which you can see loose is plugged into the ballast pack when in place, i did this after it was all back on the van to give a nice tidy cable layout :)ive mounted the ballast packs on the inner wing with the sticky pads supplied i was weary of them to be honest but there stickyer than a big sticky thing  thats all the pics ive got at the mo due to it pissing down whilst finishing off :( so i will get some more of the ballasts in situ

and where ive run the cable to the ballast pack, in pic five you can see the hole below the headlights thats where ive run the cable through and up to the ballasts if you look under the bonnet it really is hard to spot now 8) and is all dry secure plus no chaffing anywhere  i will also get some pics of the lights on at night for you to see the difference, i must say i was really impressed with just how easy it was the kit was well made and all plug and play 8)

I removed the terminals from the connector so that I could make a smaller hole in the light cover and then use a grommit to seal it with, pass the wires/terminals through the grommit and click them back into the connector.

Thanks mate for the pics. Where's your intercooler cover? Does that come off with the bumper?

Any pics of them in the dark? Been flashed at all yet?

It was a tight squeeze getting some of the other connectors through the grommit, but its possible :)

I'll try and get some pics tomorrow.

Paintworx - Spotted your lights - look the nuts. Was it an oven jobby to split them or do they unclip? Not looked yet lol.

Warmed them up for a couple of hours infront of the office radiator, then alot of patience to tease the lens off without cracking the lens or the back.
