Problem with key or immobiliser?!?!

Postby shaiboyuk » Mon Nov 26, 2012 7:51 pm

Hi all,

Today when I went out and started my Connect, the key turned fine but then didn't start the van, didn't even turn the starter, at first I thought great the battery is dead, but all power was fine. Tried again, still no go. Took the key out and back in, It started this time :)

Went down the road, stopped at shops, then tried to start it again, same thing, wouldn't start first time, removed key and put it back in, started fine :/

Stopped a few more times after this, but it started first time after that.

Question is, does this sound like a immobiliser issue? Is it likely to be the key or what's in the lock itself? I only have one key that works in ignition, so can't test it with another key :/

Any help, greatly appreciated :)

Thanks
Cheers

If the immobiliser LED is flashing fast after turning the key, then it has a problem, if it goes out when trying to start, then the problem is elsewhere

Thanks for your reply :)

Yeh I didn't really check the led, will if it happens again. But the fact that each time I reinserted the key, it started, does that sound like an immobiliser issue?

Thank again

Ok so van wouldn't start again today, turned the key, all lights on dash but nothing turning, the immobiliser light just kept flashing the way it would when when the van wasn't being started. Not fast flashing just normal. This time took the key out and in serval times, even tried the other key that never starts it cause it only works in the doors, nothing for about 7-8 tries then it came back to life with the normal key!

Anyone any ideas?
