heaters cold

Postby manchestergas » Wed Nov 21, 2012 1:50 am

hi all , can any one help out with my 53 plate connect heaters its done 115 k and the heaters some times get hot on long runs and some times i get no heat at all. does anyone know where the flow and return to the core/matrix go?. i have blanked the egr and egr cooler in the past as i was loosing coolant which has cured my coolant loss now i just need to get on with getting the heaters working properly ready for winter as i cant imagine how much time i will spend along with money on de-icer.

thanks in advance

would take it to a garage but with work being so diar over summer i cant afford to at the moment.

I would try a backflush of the heater matrix, there will only be two pipes going to it that can be disconnected in the engine bay.

Hi folks can somebody point me in the right direction of where the matrix pipes go through to the engine bay as I am struggling to find the pipes under the bonnet.

Thanks

The two pipes go thru the bulkhead and into the matrix. they are about 1inch diameter and sit on top of each other, one is flow in and other is return. remove both pipes and stick garden hose on plastic inlet and see if water comes out of other one,if it does its ok . reconnect pipes and fill system up and warm her up to temp and while its running squeeze all the hoses to get air out of system and have your blowers on aswell to ensure they put out heat.make sure all hoses get hot when engine up to temp.
