Hi just been through that problem, trying to find an engine that has low mileage that will suit the van was a nightmare, mainly being that when they get a few miles on the clock they do start to play up and cost a bomb to keep going. So im told 110,000ish is time to be aware, exactly what happened to mine, it had so many problems it was either another engine or repair the one I had. I am told it was down to the previous owner not maintaining it properly. During the search I found quite a number that had the con rod through the block ? why. then if the engine was guaranteed low mileage they wanted top money and you still only had their word for it once it out of the vehicle. one firm wanted £1400, the average was £750. If you go second hand you will have to change the fuel pump over so im told for the coding. I ended up having the old engine reconditioned At a cost of £2300 that included new clutch and fitting charges. What way you go is your choice but after finding out about these vehicles problems it seems a never ending spending spree and second hand is pot luck by what ive been told.
