Mondeo chrome handles... Help

Postby Lmalone » Sun Dec 30, 2012 9:45 pm

How the f*#k do you fit these I tried today they are completely different to the connect one my connect covers fit over the top... They won't clip on door like my connect ones do also when I put cable on them the cable is slack so the doors won't lock properly! Do you have self tap them on?

Hi, you have to remove the chrome parts from the black plastic surrounds.....you have to do the same with your original handles.....I did this by drilling out the bottom of the pin holding them in. Then swap the chrome parts into the original Connect housings. The pin just pushes back in, it doesn't matter that the bottom is removed, it can't go anywhere when it's all back together.

If you've got this far already, and are still having problems, have you got the retaining spring for the handles located properly? Do the Mondeo handles look to be the same shape as the Connect ones?

Think I was the first to do it back in sep 2009! So other people may of found a better way but heres how I did mine.

After I got the door card off and unclipped the cable from the back off the handle. I just cut off the pin holding the handle together at the base of it (see pic) and pulled the pin upwards and out. Disasselmbled the plastic lever and then after doing the same to the mondeo handle inserted the metal lever in its place (it is spring loaded so watch you dont lose anything). Once the pin is back in the the door card/handle surround keeps the pin in and it can't fall out. I did this months ago and have never had a problem with it.

So ive only used the metal handle from the mondy nothing else, and never had to remove the base plate from the door of the van.

Yep, saw that post when I did a search a couple of weeks ago, and followed the instructions to the letter, so cheers for that!
