Hi all ive a 06 plate transit connect ive seen on other forums that replacing the resistor normally fixes the fan but ive tried this without success is there anything else i could try please help

If the resistor works for a moment then stops and you go back to only working on level 4 then its more than likely the motor itself causing the resistor pack to blow. I had the same issue on a mates focus.

The fan motor is fed with a constant +12volt feed when the ignition is on, speed 4 is direct switch to earth, speed 1,2 & 3 run through the resistor then are also switched to earth, inside the main resistor unit there are 3 resistors connected in series, speed 1 run through all 3 resistors, speed 2 runs through 2 resistors and speed 3 runs through 1 resistor then down to earth. Earth pins 1,3 & 5 ONE AT A TIME of the fan blower switch and see if the blower works on the lower speeds, if it does replace the switch

Check the plug that goes to the resistor they have a habbit of over heating, ford supply a replacement plug if it is burnt
